Information ADB/Fastboot - Neverware CloudReady
Posted by: admin - 12-29-2018, 01:33 AM - Forum: Chrome OS / Chromium OS - No Replies

I just managed to install ADB and Fastboot on my CloudReady device, and now you can too!

Just follow these steps and it will be fine. (most likely)

First of all you will need full R/W permission on your system, if you don't know how to get that you can read more about that here: [Link]

When you have full R/W permission to system (in terminal) type this to install ADB/Fastboot:

Code:
sudo su -
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/corbindavenport/nexus-tools/master/install.sh)

Thats it! now ADB/Fastboot should be installed!

To try it out and use it, type this:
Code:
PATH=~/.nexustools:$PATH
adb devices -l

If your android device is plugged in you should see a screen for allowing ADB connection to your device and also your device should be listed like in the screenshot below:

Your downloads folder should be located here for when you are using your ADB/Fastboot to flash files on your device:

Code:
/home/chronos/user/Downloads/

Thanks to [Corbin Davenport] for making this availiable to us!

Exclamation NeverWare CloudReady - System read/wright permission
Posted by: admin - 12-26-2018, 01:07 AM - Forum: Chrome OS / Chromium OS - No Replies

So, most likely why wou ended up here would be for the reason you have installed CloudReady from neverware and something probably easy fixable by having R/W on system patition.

BEWARE! WARNING!

If you don't know what you are doing, and don't know how to fix it, Don't do anything! This could potentially end with disaster/bricking your device entirely! I don't take any responsibility for you using this guide and fiddling around in your system partition in any way! If you proceed with this you'r on your own! I can't help you if anything would happen to your device!

Why would anyone want read/wright permissions to system partition?

Well, for some stuff to actually work you will need R/W permissions to system for such as flatpak apps, and yes, that is actually working in CloudReady! It's so cool to run Spotify on my old scrap Netbook! Also, i have heard that it's possible to extract ARcore from any chrome os img to run Android apps on some chromium os installs (not sure this works, not entirely sure what files are actually related to that feature) among that it's also possible to change some UI elements such as boot animations and stuff like that.
So, with that out of the way, we can now proceed with this guide.

To gain access to R/W in our system we have to disable the verification in the system (make sure you are in developer mode)

To disable the security checks we type the following in the terminal and the device should reboot after the last line:

Code:
shell
sudo su -
sudo disable_verity
sudo reboot

when finally booted up type:
Code:
shell
sudo su -
mount -o remount,rw /

Congratulations! You now have full system read/wright permissions in your system!

Be careful not to do anything stupid now! I don't take any responsibility for any damage this might cause!

Hårddisk som är på gränsen till trasig (kritiskt)
Posted by: admin - 12-23-2018, 11:16 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

<br/>
Detta stötte vi då på:
<ATTACHMENT filename="hdd_fail_0001.png" index="0"><s>[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]</e></ATTACHMENT>

<H4>Missing one?</H4>
Do you know another distro not listed here? please feel free to share it in the comments below, this would help alot since covering everything is not easy. The current information needed is only their website and an official link to it.
<H4>Owner?</H4>
If you are the owner of these distros and beleve they should not be listed here, contact us at any time so we could work this out. ^^
<H4>Why?</H4>
Well, alot of older computers don't have the hardware to run s full blown desktop os, and that's where chrome os comes in, lightweight and meant for the web. Fulfilling all the needs from an older computer or netbook is the goal and intention of using chrome os on unsuported hardware.
<H4>Does it work on my hardware?</H4>
Well, i can't check that for you, but you can boot chrome os from a usb or even burn it to a CD or DVD to try it out first. If everything expected to work is working then, go for it, you won't regret it. I have not tried CD/DVD since i have retired all my disc drives and are running everything from USB when i need to. Hardware support depends if someone have built for your device or one that have similar hardware. Im running a copy of NeverWare's CloudReady OS for Generic devices X64 and it runs great, except the audio 3.5 jack is totaly silent. it does how ever recognizes thta something is plugged in to the audio jack it self. not entirely sure whats not working tho.

<H4>Having Questions?</H4>
Incase you have anything to ask about these builds, i can only answer from my own experience, im not the developer of any of these operating systems. Contact the respective build maintainer if you are having issues with any of these builds.
<H4>Can we install apps?</H4>
Not at the moment, no. Since google have copyrighted the code to run apk files there is no way to do that right now. Yes, there is talk about it here: [Link comming soon]
